The Senior Scientist in this role will have deep knowledge and experience in their field - whether technical focus or Scientific field focused. Participates in the strategy discussions behind project initiation with leadership. Initiates, advises, and performs all scientific research and development on their projects independently. Leads their team to investigate the feasibility of applying various scientific principles and concepts to tackle problems. Supervises the technical project team under mentorship, crafting the timelines and experiments, and regularly presents data across the company to leadership. May be involved in a cross-functional team. Responsible for staying on top of current publications in their field and can independently integrate ideas from these publications into current projects. Networks with colleagues outside their area of expertise. Mentors and supervises junior colleagues in the planning and execution of laboratory research.


  • Leads design and conducts sophisticated experiments independently with scientific rationale; can lead a small team
  • Critically analyzes and interprets sophisticated data drawing appropriate conclusions
  • Responsible for the completion of research, experiments, and assignments that have an impact on functional goals
  • Delivers presentations and supplies to abstracts, posters, or publications, both internally and externally
  • Responsible for mentoring and supervising junior associates
  • Can be involved in steering the scientific direction of external collaborations


  • BSc in immunology, oncology, or related field with a proven ability within the area of focus; or
  • MSc in immunology, oncology or related field with a minimum of 11 years’ experience within the area of focus; or
  • PhD in immunology, oncology or related field with a minimum of 6 years’ experience within the area of focus


  • Experience working with human tumor samples and TIL/ TCR-T culture methods
  • Ability to lead Scientists and Research Associates in a controlled laboratory environment
  • Understanding of molecular biology theory and protocols (i.e. Flow cytometry, CRISPR,PCR, Western, RT-PCR, basic cloning); more complex experience and design a plus
  • Extensive experience designing, using, and analyzing a broad range of immunology and oncology assays; cell therapy knowledge ideal, more sophisticated experience a plus
  • Extensive experience with flow cytometry assays and analysis; more complex analysis and cell sorting experience a plus
  • Extensive experience in sterile tissue culture technique and working with human cells
  • Experience in bioinformatics analysis
  • Experience in data production and reporting for IND-enabling studies
  • Additional specific experience related to the area of focus may be required
  • Ability to complete technical assignments by designing, executing, and interpreting sophisticated experiments; uses broad knowledge of current literature to drive the direction of projects
  • Knowledgeable and deeply proficient in a range of technical skills and the ability to teach colleages
  • May lead scientifically on cross-functional team assignments and run scientific projects
  • Effectively communicate and discuss results with other scientists on the team; general comfort with presenting data across the company and externally
  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software packages (Prism, Flow Jo, Spotfire, Geneious, etc)
  • Strong ability to work and guide junior colleagues in a matrixed environment
