Research Associate II, Process Development
Position Summary:
We are recruiting a Research Associate II for our Process Lifecyle team within the Process Development organization. The Research Associate will work collaboratively with supervising Scientists and the broader team to perform unit operations according to project workflows. Function semi-independently to troubleshoot problems that arise within these operations and think creatively to improve upon existing workflows. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with research and LyFE Manufacturing Facility teams. Responsible for carrying out specific experiments & operations, for the development & optimization of cell therapy production processes for our novel T-cell therapies.
Essential Functions:
- Execute experiments to support development of T-cell production processes
- Support process design and process transfer activities
- Deliver data analysis, presentations, prepare technical reports for broader project teams
- Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new process technologies
- Participate in and support investigations for process transfer with LyFE personnel
- Contribute to building a culture that encourages continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
Preferred Experience:
- 2-4 years’ experience with mammalian cell culture
- Experience with cell therapy and/or process development
- Proficient in sterile tissue culture technique and experience working with human cells
- Experience recording data in electronic notebook
- Proficient performing and analyzing common immunology and oncology assays
Education:
- BSc in biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, oncology or related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the area of focus
- MSc in biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, oncology or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within the area of focus
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively among cross-functional teams
- Ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet deadlines and balance competing priorities in a matrixed environment
- Plan experiments and manage time independently
- Comfortable in learning new protocols, working with new software and automated lab equipment
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Basic skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software packages Prism, JMP, Flow Jo, Spotfire, Geneious, etc
- Ability to think critically, design experiments & troubleshoot problems as they arise

The salary range for this position is $90,000 and $105,000, annually, with the opportunity to earn an annual bonus. The salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on Lyell’s compensation practices and an applicant’s qualifications and experience. Employees are also eligible to participate in Lyell’s Equity Incentive Plan.
